The same held true in Austin, too, until just a couple years ago. At the then Sunset Valley Farmers Market, I noteiced a smiling man selling paletas from a white cart. The man was the owner of what is now GoodPop. I selected a pineapple-chile pop, and it was delicious—cool, sweet, spicy, tart. My dude agreed. These were indeed good pops. What makes them even better is that they’re all natural, use organic ingredients, and are made right here in Austin. They come in traditional flavors, like tamarindo and mango-chile, and also others like pineapple-basil and soy coconut.

We continued to buy the paletas at the market, and we now get them there, at the downtown market at Republic Square Park, and at Wheatsville.

A few weeks ago, the owners set up a small shop at the corner of South Congress and Riverside. It’s only open Thursdays through Sundays until mid-September, as far as I know, and I don’t know what they’re up to after that. They ran a Groupon a couple weeks ago, which I, of course, bought to redeem for an eight-pack box. They sold a lot of Groupons, so I hope they use the funds to expand even further. I know I’ll be keeping an eye out for them.
